Further club statement

Thursday, 17 September 2015 21:43

Due to a collective administrative oversight we have been in dialogue with the FA regarding our FA cup game against Tilbury on Saturday 12th September.

Under advisement by the clubs solicitors we were unable to issue any further information regarding these discussions other than to make clear that the replay to be held on Tuesday 15th had been postponed.

The discussions have now reached a conclusion and as such we have had discussions with Tilbury to re-arrange the game that was played on the 12th September.

Our Player Andrew Wilton was indeed registered with the Southern League, his parent club did give conformation for the player to play for us in the FA Cup, and we confirmed the player’s registration within the time frame set out for the competition.

The Southern League confirmed all of this back to us.

We were of the understanding that we copied all of this information which was sent via e-mail to the FA but were advised on the Sunday night after the fixture by the FA that they had not received the information.

Having reviewed this we then found out our error in which we indeed failed to copy in the FA with all of the correspondence.

We will now re-play the game at Tilbury on Tuesday 22nd September 7.45pm KO

We’d like to put on record a big thank you to all involved both at the club, Kevin Batch, Tilbury FC, the FA at Wembley and especially to our supporters for their continued support and understanding over the last week.

The full statement by the FA is as below.

The FA Cup Committee considered submissions made by St Neots Town FC in relation to a charge for the breach of FA Cup Rule 15(h) for playing an ineligible player in the First Round Qualifying against Tilbury FC on Saturday 12 September 2015.

Whilst it was acknowledged that the competition rules had been breached, the Committee were satisfied with the explanation and evidence provided within the submissions from St Neots Town and decided, by exercising its discretionary power in accordance with FA Cup Rule 16(c), not to remove St Neots Town FC from the competition and ordered the tie to be replayed to a conclusion at Tilbury FC on Tuesday 22 September 2015.

Furthermore, it was decided that gate receipts from the tie ordered to be replayed shall be retained by Tilbury FC with St Neots Town FC also responsible for their own travel costs.
