Shane Blackett signs for the saints

Friday, 02 October 2015 08:02

Experienced defender Shane Blackett, who has amassed around 200 league appearances for Peterborough, Luton and Dagenham, has signed for Saints.

Shane has won a Conference promotion, League one runner up, League two runner up and been a Southern league premier division winner.

More recently he was a stalwart of the Hemel Hempstead team, which romped to the Southern League title, and this season has been playing at Dunstable Town.

'We originally wanted Shane at the back end of last season and spoke to him in the summer', unfortunately we couldn't work anything out at that time said Manager David Batch

We are now of the opinion it's the right thing to do and strengthens us considerably - especially with the recent injury to Matt Mitchell- King and with others still struggling with injury'.

Shane will go straight into the squad for Saturday's home match against Cirencester, where 6 players not available on Tuesday will be included in the squad.
