St Neots Town Reserves vs New Bradwell St Peter

Final Score 3-1

After the disappointment of dropping 2 points on Saturday, Gearsy & Bish were looking for a reaction from the boys making several changes against promotion favourites New Bradwell St Peters who had finished 9th in Division one the previous season, only to be relegated due to facilities not meeting requirements.

The team started brightly and took the game to New Bradwell moving the ball around well, as the teams transferred possession both looking to probe killer ball without success. It was St Neots Town who created 1st chance with Jamie Osborne racing clear only to see his powerful shot fly over the bar and out the ground. St Neots continued to press and 'skipper' Luke Partridge will be kicking himself on how he didn't put St Neots 1 up as he had time and space when found from a free kick, only to head straight into keepers arms. Half chances came and went and at half time the score remained 0-0, although St Neots Town reserves will feel they deserved to be leading after being the better team.

Second half kicked off and it was New Bradwell who started the better and forced St Neots back, the St Neots defence absorbed the pressure & re-established themselves back in the game. On 60 minutes St Neots started to ring the changes with Ant Brolia and Josh Maltby coming on for Shae Humpreys and Luke Taylor, both players from St Neots Town scholarship programme. It was around the 68th minute after pressure in the New Bradwell area Ollie Reynolds was fouled and a penalty was awarded, Ant Brolia stepped up and smashed the ball past the New Bradwell keeper 1-0 and well deserved. St Neots Town Reserves continued to pile on the pressure on the New Bradwell goal and 71 minutes Jamie Osborne pounced on to a loose ball and hammered the ball into roof of the net 2-0. St Neots were really on top now and moved the ball well and continued to play in New Bradwell half and it didn't take long before the pressure took its toll on New Bradwell as they conceded another penalty, again Ant Brolia stepped up and smashed his 2nd and St Neots Town Reserves 3rd, to put the game out of reach. However as the game drifted deep into stoppage time, a miss communication enabled a loose ball to fall in path of New Bradwell forward who raced on and bumble ball over the goal line to make it 3-1 at the final whistle.

Good performance from the lads and reaction to Saturday's disappointment, this Saturday we take on Grendon Rangers at home kick off 3pm & free admission.
