An opportunity to go top  with a draw or win for the Christmas period, but as stated in the programme notes the target for December was 100% point haul to keep pressure on. With a number of teams with games in hand, we needed to keep putting points on the table. The team, still without joint manager Bish, who while sunning himself (big fine holidaying in football season!!)  found time to propose to his girlfriend, who said YES- congratulations Bish from all at the club!!

Gearsy made minor changes from the squad that played Tring Corinthians with Swain in for Brolia, Walsh in for the unavailable Douglas-Smith and Sincock for Humphrey.

The team started well applying pressure on the Pitstone goal, Mitchell going close with a header over the bar, the Saints keep applying pressure but can't get vital opening goal...... feels like its going to be one of those days!!

Pitstone long ball and Saints defence misjudge ball and Pitstone forward blocks clearance from Jeckells and the ball just goes wide, Saints close to going 1-nil down. Saints need to put one of these chances away and they do just that when Swain delivers a free kick and Tom Mitchell heads past the keeper.... no more than Saints deserve 1-0, Saints continue to press and Sincock goes close to adding a second but shot goes wide. Pitstone have rare attack but shot goes narrowly wide, Saints need to keep focus. Saints are dominating  but need  another goal!!

Swain shoots wide with shot from edge of area and after a number of corners Pitstone break but shot comes to nothing. Pitstone press and the impressive Paolo Aquila skims the bar with a shot from 25 yards, Saints go searching and great ball from Stevens is just too high for Walsh at back stick half time whistle blows with the scoreline 1-0 to Saints.

Second half and Saints continue to dominate the game and an early chance goes begging as Stevens pulls his shot wide. The game was nowgoing through a scrappy period with possession going back & forth, Saints make a sub with Walsh replaced by Humphrey and its Humphrey almost extends Saints lead but fires shot just wide. Saints press on and Tommy Stevens fires in a shot from outside area makes it 2-0. At last Saints get breathing space!!

Saints make another substitution and Gillespie comes on  for  the impressive but tiring Swain and its Gillespie who gets in way of cross field ball as Humphrey looks to switch play and ball falls for Pitstone midfielder who break forward on goal, with Jackson out of position and Fitzgerald slipping Pitstone forward fires past Jeckells to make scoreline 2-1.

Saints make their final change  as Gearsy replaces the hardworking Sincock with Brolia and Saints continue to press and Buddle goes close with great run forward but chip just goes over the bar, end to end stuff now and Saints need a third goal to settle and calm the game down!!

A few opportunities go begging, Saints need this goal and its Shae Humphrey who gets head onto cross from left and heads pass Pitstone keeper 3-1 and surely 3 points!!

Pitstone keep pressing and Jeckells holds shot from Pitstone attack, Pitstone press again and almost score as Jackson doesn't deal with Pitstone attacker as he goes past him far too easy, but his shot hits inside of post with Jeckells beaten - Saints clear..... and hold on for 3 points & 3-1 win!!

Well done, Pitstone played part in entertaining game but win puts Saints top for Christmas!!

With a 10 games game unbeaten run and with only minor blip a 2-2 home draw against MK Unite, Saints look like they have put a disappointing September behind them.

Next up: Away game Monday 2nd January vs Enfield Boro, a 6 pointer and opportunity to put right the 5-1 home defeat suffered earlier in the season. Kick off 3pm.
