First away trip of the season playing at Luton's The 61FC, warm afternoon on a pitch where the manager trip over twice just walking over to the dug-out, today's game was going to be a reality check for some of St Neots Reserves players on how this league is going to be. From the kick off both teams traded possession and both teams defences was on top and chances kept to a minimum , it was 61fc who made the breakthrough 20 minutes in when the ball got slipped in behind the St Neots Town defence and 61FC winger Mash raced towards the touch line and pulled the ball back across the goal for an easy tap in for Tom Vanderburgh 1-0. From the sidelines St Neots Town reserves management team demanded a reaction, It was St Neots Town Reserves midfielder Laurie Bambridge who won the ball just inside 61fc half and played a lovely 20 yard ball over the 61fc defence which Jamie Osborne pulled the ball down with a lovely touch and fire the ball just wide, after this the game fell back to how it started with teams trading possession & defences winning the battles. It was on 40 minutes St Neots Town Reserves won a corner and good delivery from Ant Brolia & flick on from Rob Fitzgerald enabled Kevin Ashby to smash in 1-1. 61fc responded and almost scored again- Ashby landing awkwardly from challenging a header with forward, the 61fc midfield picked up the ball and moved forward going past 3x midfielders before playing the ball out wide, Rob Fitzgerald unfortunate to not intercept the pass as the ball bobbled over his foot & into the path of the on rushing winger who flashed the ball across the St Neots goal for the forward to tap in, but somehow he missed!! Half time.

Second half and St Neots Town Reserves started the better and most of the game was being played in the 61fc half, the best chance came from another fine Ant Brolia free kick to back post which was met firmly by the head of Josh Maltby but he couldn't keep it down & it sailed over the bar. St Neots Town then started to ring the changes bring on Luke Taylor & Phil Pelling on for Aldo Walsh & Ant Brolia, breaking down the 61fc defence was becoming frustrating and when the ball did get fed to Jamie Osborne in good positions the forward was caught off side.  Shae Humpreys  then came on for Laurie Bambridge and St Neots continue to play most of the game in the 61fc half without troubling the 61fc goalkeeper who I can't recall having to make a save!! 61fc did have the odd breakout attack and the 61fc forward had a curling effort smash against the post with St Neots town goalkeeper Scott Stanford grounded. St Neots Town reserves started to win a number of freekicks around the 61fc area only for the  reliable Phil Pelling left foot to let him down, as these opportunities were wasted. With 10 mins remaining the 61fc centre back came wildly out with studs up on St Neots Town forward Luke Taylor and rightly so got his marching orders, however St Neots Town Reserves couldn't take advantage and game finished 1-1.
