Pre Season Friendly

Rowley Park – July 7th 2015

St Neots Town  0 – 0  Stanway Rovers

Whilst the entire First Team squad were being put through their paces on the 3G training pitch by coach John Beck, manager David Batch took the opportunity to cast his eye over a squad of trialists, all eager to impress and earn a place in his squad for the forthcoming season, as they entertained one of last season’s FA Vase semi finalists, Stanway Rovers, in front of a healthy looking Tuesday night crowd.

Although the game ended in a goal-less draw, this certainly wasn’t due to lack of effort from both sets of players who got valuable minutes under their belts.

Goalkeeper Harry Reynolds had an outstanding evening between the sticks, making three fine saves during the course of the ninety minutes, the highlight being a point blank save in the 61st minute as the visitors looked likely to score from a corner kick. French strikers Bebey Berchand and Matene Togola both squandered chances to put the Saints ahead once they had worked themselves into good scoring opportunities in the first half and Saints’ best chance in the second half came when substitute Andrew Ifosu’s near post flick from a corner agonisingly hit the side netting.

All in all, a very good run out giving David the ideal chance to see all these lads in a match situation against a well organised Stanway side, who we wish well for the upcoming season.
