Thurlow Nunn Youth League West Division

ST NEOTS TOWN      3       HUNTINGDON TOWN     1

St Neots completed their first Thurlow Nunn League double of the season with a performance that was not reflected in the final score line.   With skipper Ryan Sharman back from injury St Neots totally dominated from midfield but their finishing was poor  and it was three minutes from time that a third goal finally confirmed the three points haul that their overall performance deserved.

There was an explosive start to the match with St Neots scoring after just thirty seconds and Huntingdon replying shortly afterwards.   The kick off saw St Neots pass the ball back to centre half Harry Jenkins and his long forward pass found Karl Safee who blasted the ball past the startled Huntingdon keeper.   However before St Neots had time to celebrate Huntingdon hit them on the break and a quick cross into the penalty area was side footed home by Shaun Crisp.   The game then settled into a pattern with St Neots dominating but giving the ball away in the final third of the field.   However after 15 minutes St Neots regained their lead when Connor Belgrave picked our Karl Safee and he turned his marker to score with a low shot.   Safee then set up Rooky who found the side netting and then Sharman beat his marker to find Karl Safee but Scott Bladon saved well before denying Sean Barker after more neat work by Sharman.

The second half followed a similar pattern with Huntingdon having to defend for long periods as St Neots became frustrated with their lack of success.   However the final breakthrough came after 87 minutes when substitute Sean Flynn added his name to the score sheet with a shot that bounced over the visiting keeper.
